Above the lake and the vineyards, you see castles on the lake, take a stroll in a medieval town and taste wine in a traditional wine cellar, or two.

The second part of the tour includes a trip to a mountain lake at 1700 meters above sea level, next to a traditional little village where wooden houses are centuries old. The fish restaurant on the lake serves one of the best grilled trout dishes in the region, and the forest around it in late summer is full of wild blueberries. On a hot day take a swimsuit with you if you want to cool off in the lake.

On this route we mostly stay on paved roads, big and small, and we take mountain passes in canton Vaud. Access to the mountain lake by vehicle depends on snow and is generally possible from mid-May to mid-November. In winter (mid-December to mid-April) we travel via cable car and snow shoes to reach our destination.
