We visit the "chalets d'alpage" - those farmers' summer houses where cheese is produced, the old fashioned way. We will see cows, many cows, and we will step in "it". You will be amazed how well these cows live. 

Experience a farmer’s daily chores and routine in summer. We follow the traditional cheese making process and taste the cheese these farmers produce: Gruyere, Vacherin, Charmeur, or Alpkäse. If you want, buy the cheese you like. Take enough for friends and family.

Some of the ascents are not for the light-hearted. Some guests prefer to walk up the steepest sections. It is never a problem; we are patient.

Besides gorgeous panoramas of the Alps, we drive through several cantons, cross the language border and a few mountain passes. Most roads are paved but often single-lane. Part of our route includes unpaved mountain roads perfectly suitable for travel with a 4x4 vehicle.

This tour is available from mid-May to mid-October, generally. The actual dates depend on weather conditions as well as the actual dates farmers bring their cows to the alpine pastures in spring, then take them back to the valleys in autumn.
